My mom, nephew, and I went Black Friday shopping yesterday. We were met with traffic and long lines of people buying anything and everything perhaps for themselves or probably mostly gifts for their loved ones…So many people braving the cold weather and traffic and long lines to get that special gift for someone else. Why do we do this? Well, it’s the Christmas season of gift giving.
Grace is also a GIFT. We didn’t earn it nor deserve it. Someone who receives grace becomes grace for someone else. You are the gift; you become the gift. Grace becomes fluid like a flowing river. Jesus is the biggest example of Grace and gift giving. He was willing to give his own life for all of us to not be separated from God but to have eternal life. That’s the greatest gift of all. In His death, comes loads and loads of Grace. When we accept Him as our personal Savior, we receive a river of grace and love. Remember in this season of sales and traffic and presents, the biggest gift doesn’t cost money. We can give is Grace to strangers, a loved one, or to ourselves just as Jesus did for us on Christmas.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Romans 6:14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
John 3:16 for God to love the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but would have everlasting life.
